Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (HII) Mission Technologies division has secured a $76.7m electromagnetic spectrum (EMS) superiority development task order (TO) from the US Air Force (USAF).
Work under this award will see HII conduct research, analysis, test and evaluation related to different areas, which may include artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), cyber and microelectronics.
Activities carried out will directly support the USAF’s decisions related to the development of electronic warfare (EW) and EMS capabilities.
HII and its team has been supporting this programme since 2017.
The team comprises of other industry partners including On-Line Applications Research, DCS, Modern Technology Solutions, Southwest Research Institute and Vanderbilt University.
Under the latest award, the HII team will develop and provide technical recommendations for the Advanced Capabilities and Strategic Integration team, assigned under Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s (AFLCMC) Electronic Warfare and Avionics Division.
This team is responsible for providing decision quality information to AFLCMC leaders for EW and EMS capability development and modernisation.
With the company’s research and analysis, the USAF can minimise technical risk, provide mature technologies, and deliver systems engineering capability required for enhancing survivability.

The latest TO has been awarded under multiple-award contract (MAC) vehicle of the US Department of Defense Information Analysis Centre (Dod IAC).
This DoD IAC TO was awarded by the USAF Installation Contracting Center’s 774th Enterprise Sourcing Squadron, via a competitive process.
