Mother cyberbullies her daughter for a year – WeirdNews

(Web Desk) – For more than a year, a Michigan mother was accused of cyberbullying and cat fishing her own daughter and her boyfriend.

Cyberbullying is one of the most serious social issues of our time, but it is usually teenagers harassing their peers, often with tragic results. In one of the most bizarre cases of cyberbullying ever reported, a Michigan girls’ basketball coach allegedly harassed her own teenage daughter for over a year via texts and social media messages, sending her up to 12 texts and messages per day. When the daughter came to her mother for help with the constant cyberbullying, the woman was the one who reported it to authorities but tried to place the blame on her peers.

Kendra Gail Licari, 42, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, is accused of torturing her own daughter for more than a year for reasons that no one, including her, can explain. She is charged with five cases, including stalking a minor twice, using a computer to commit a crime twice, and obstructing justice once.

Authorities became involved in this case in December 2021 after Licari informed them that her daughter and boyfriend were being harassed online at the time. She and the boy’s mother work together to find the person responsible for the cyberbullying, so no one suspected her all along.

Kendra Licari’s systematic cyberbullying of her daughter began in early 2021, when she began sending her anonymous threats and hurtful texts claiming to be her daughter’s age. She attempted to hide her true identity on the internet, but when police and FBI IT experts were called in, they quickly traced the activity back to Licari’s IP address.

Authorities compiled a 349-page collection of texts and social media messages sent by the 42-year-old woman during the investigation. They confronted the woman after gathering enough evidence, and she made a full confession. Her motivations, on the other hand, remain a mystery.

According to David Barbey, the county prosecutor in charge of this bizarre case, someone coined the term “cyber- Munchausen’s” to describe Kendra Licari’s actions. According to this theory, she cyberbullied her own daughter in order for her to need her more and turn to her for assistance. Licari has yet to reveal her motivations.

Kendra Licari was arrested earlier this month and later released on a $5,000 bond. She could face up to ten years in prison for cybercrime and another five years for stalking and obstruction.
